Film/TV - Sir Christopher Lee: Screen legend dies aged 93

Sir Christopher Lee, the veteran actor and star of many of the world's biggest film franchises, has died aged 93.




The English-born actor, who made his name playing Dracula and Frankenstein's monster in the Hammer horror films, appeared in more than 250 movies.

He was best-known for his villainous roles - including Scaramanga in James Bond and evil wizard Saruman in The Lord of the Rings.

The actor's other credits include The Wicker Man and Star Wars.

The actor is reported to have died on Sunday at Chelsea and Westminster hospital in London, after being hospitalised for respiratory problems and heart failure.

A Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea council spokesman said: "We can confirm that the Register Office issued a death certificate for Mr Christopher Lee on Monday 8 June, Mr Lee died on Sunday 7 June."

He was knighted in 2009 for services to drama and charity and was awarded a Bafta fellowship in 2011.

James Bond actor Roger Moore tweeted: "It's terribly when you lose an old friend, and Christopher Lee was one of my oldest. We first met in 1948.

Mika Singh arrested for assaulting a doctor, out on bail

MUMBAI: Just a day after celebrating his birthday, Bollywood singer Mika Singh was arrested in Delhi for assaulting a doctor, in an incident which took place in April. During a live performance in South-West Delhi, the 'Dhinka Chika' singer allegedly slapped Dr. Shrikant Sinha, due to which the ophthalmologist suffered some internal injury inside his left ear.

The singer and his bouncers were said to be booked under Sections 341/34 (wrongful restraint and common intention) in addition to Section 323 (causing hurt).

According to Singh’s lawyer, Mika had landed in Delhi, after he came back from Malaysia. Police then recorded his statement, after which Singh was asked to call his lawyer. Although the singer was arrested, he was let out on bail after paying a bond of Rs 20,000.

His lawyer Sanjay Bhatnagar further added that the singer was not misbehaving. He also informed that a case had been filed against the doctor by a female announcer at the event, and that Mika Singh does not know the announcer. He claimed that the doctor was passing comments and making obscene gestures towards her, which is why Singh slapped him.

Bhatnagar also added that the bouncers were hired by the event organisers.

However, Inderpuri police station has recorded statements from many attendees of the event, and has established that Sinha had not provoked Singh in anyway.

According to reports, as soon as the incident took place, Sinha's colleagues created a commotion, after which the Delhi police booked the singer and promised action against him. “While performing, Mika had called some of the audience on stage for an activity. During the activity, something done by the doctor irked Mika who then slapped him and handed him to the bouncers,” said a police official to a few reporters.

“In his complaint, Dr. Shrikant has said he was trying to communicate with a woman, who was participating in a gimmick that required segregation of male and female members of the audience. It was then that Mika summoned the doctor,” stated a senior police officer.

Singh’s elder brother, Daler Mehndi, maintained that both are at fault and that should have kept their anger under control. He also said that moral is learnt by both, and stated that fans should not be on stage.

This is not the first time that Singh has been arrested. In 2013 he was arrested at Mumbai international airport for allegedly carrying Indian and foreign currency beyond permissible limit. In 2006, he also kissed actor/performer Rakhi Sawant on his birthday bash.

The country's first advertisement showing a lesbian couple preparing to meet the parents is making waves on social media. The online video shows two women in a live-in relationship flirting and dressing up for the day, chatting about the expectations they face and their love for each other.

Titled 'The Visit', the ad for a fashion portal's ethnic wear collection has got over 2 lakh hits on YouTube over 10 days.

"We tried to avoid the stereotypes associated with gay people. There was no one woman looking more masculine or feminine in the film. We tried to give it a candid feel like it is any other couple being apprehensive about meeting the parents," says Avishek Ghosh, co-partner of Hectic Content, the production house that made the film conceptualized by ad agency Ogilvy & Mather, Bangalore.

"The ad has got 3 million views across social media like Facebook, YouTube etc," says Manish Aggarwal, VP (marketing) at Myntra Fashion which is promoting the ad.

The visibility of same-sex couples is what makes this ad timely says LGBT rights activist Ashok Row Kavi. "This is a bold statement. Lesbians around the world have been in the news, they are getting married and fighting for their rights. This is what society sees, same-sex couples living happily, and there is a huge audience that accepts this," says Kavi.

Says ad-man K V Sridhar, "This trend started last year, with Fastrack ads that hinted homosexuality, Tanishq that showed a re-marriage etc. In India, while living in is still a shock, this ad has gone a step ahead. It is commendable."

News - Rail Tatkal ticket booking timings revised; 50% refund on cancellation

Indian Railways has changed the timing for the booking of Tatkal tickets, and said that customers can get a refund of upto 50% on cancellation for the same.

As per the new schedule, the Tatkal booking for AC classes will commence at 10am and close at 11am, while for the non-AC classes, the Tatkal booking will commence at 11am and close at noon.

Railways will soon launch its 'Tatkal Special' train service, travelling on which will be dearer than on normal trains.

The cash-strapped public transporter will make special trains on tatkal fares operational for certain busy routes.

While 'Premium' trains — tickets for which are priced as per a dynamic fare structure — are already operational, the Tatkal Special trains will be an additional service to cater to the rush.

The Railways has also relaxed the advance reservation period for Tatkal Special trains. The advance reservation period is of a minimum 10 days and a maximum of 60 days.

News - Pornhub wants to shoot porn in space, starts a campaign to fund it

Neil Armstrong once said, "That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind,” when he became the first human being ever, to set foot on the moon. It was undeniably a historic moment for the people of Earth, which also helped deepen our knowledge of outer space. But let us ask you this: how do you feel about a plan to make the world's first ever porno video to be shot in space, beyond the atmosphere of our planet?

After introducing the WankBand, which collects power when moved in an up and down motion, Pornhub has announced its plans to make history, by shooting a pornographic flick in space. Yes, you read that right. And to make this a reality, the company has started a 30-day crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, to be able to raise $3.4 million for the said space porn project.


All the money collected will then be used to pay for the seating of crew and actors who will ride on a "consumer space shuttle", stain-proof suits, and of course, "state-of-the-art video equipment to broadcast the iconic moment." Unfortunately, that whole "consumer space shuttle" thing, not to mention the actual low cost of this endeavor makes us believe this won't be anything more than, at best, a ride on Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic "space" flights (ie not space) or, even worse, a ride on "the vomit comet".


Donors of the campaign not only help make the idea a reality, but they get rewards in return too. $1 will get a donor a certificate stating they helped support the space program, while $10 will get a donor early access to the video. Pornhub even accepts donations of up to $20,000, which will allow you to run the show, and design a scene, scripts, positions, angles, and all.
Pornhub VP Corey Price further explains the company's plans regarding the "Sexploration" mission:
We’re looking to pioneer a one-of-a-kind mission to push the boundaries of intergalactic sexploration, defy gravity and make history. We are excited to change the adult industry as we currently know it by venturing into the final sexual frontier. This will be a grand experiment in learning how intercourse works after penetrating the Earth’s atmosphere, a lesson we’d like to broadcast and produce — with great enjoyment — in direct collaboration with those interested in being a part of the global front that will make this a reality.
So far, as of this writing, Pornhub has only collected about $5,500 for the campaign. If the goal is reached and everything goes well, the launch of the program could happen by late 2016. The company can only get the money raised if the goal is reached. Otherwise, all the money donated will be refunded back to people.
While it is possible that this might be just a joke, sex in outer space, and even more importantly reproduction, is actually a topic of great interest for space agencies around the world. Being able to learn more about it is a very important step in humankind's journey to other planets.

The trailer of SS Rajamouli's "Baahubali", which released on YouTube on 1 June, has been successful in impressing not only the Telugu film-goers, but also Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam audiences.
"Baahubali", featuring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah Bhatia in the leads, is shot and released simultaneously in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi. The two-part movie, which has been made with a whopping budget of over ₹175 crore, have released the trailers of all the four versions, which have been viewed by over 2.5 million people across the globe in 24 hours.
The trailer of its Telugu version, which was released on YouTube by the "Baahubali" team, has got 1.3 million views, which is the biggest record in the history of Telugu cinema. The response of its video shows that the film will become the biggest opener and highest grosser for Rajamouli, beating the records of his previous period movie, "Magadheera".
The trailers of its Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam versions have got over 8.5 lakh, 2.5 lakh and 66,000 views respectively in 24 hours after its release. All the four versions of the trailer have got over 30,000 thumbs ups and over 1,600 thumbs downs together. These videos have got more than 2,700 comments and most of them show viewers' positive opinions and their excitement to watch the film.
